Sat – Sunday 8th & 9th November  2008                  FORSTER Motor Inn

Ride 51  600 klms   Aprox 21 bikes, 1 trike, 3 Cars,  70 People

9am

Started off from Macca’s close to time 9.05am, Sky looked very overcast but it was cool & rather pleasant for riding, up through Kurri,Greta, a lovely ride through Clarence town, still no Rain but the sky sure looked gloomy, we made a left turn into Brookfield Road, apparently, so I was told later, Murray rode straight into some cow dung, nice and fresh too! It flew up all over Dave Gilberts pride & joy Softail, poor Dave he will be hoping for rain, along this quiet stretch of road, one passes through some beautiful countryside, you can smell the cattle & their dung, how fresh it is eh Dave? Then right turn & onto Dungog for our first break & morning tea, looked forward to this after 2 hours in the saddle, arriving at Dungog, we were escorted into town by a tractor brigade both sides of the street, all of a sudden we were in the town parade, the old & the new.

11.45am

After refueling both machine and bodies we hit the road once more, crossing over some very narrow bridges and running streams, right in the middle of the bush, I’m sure all the riders enjoyed this bit of scenery, traveling around some nice bendy bit’s on the bucket’s way, I received via cb radio from Norm that a lady rider had stopped, due to helmet problems, so I slowed the pace right down to allow them time to catch up, I think this may have pissed off some of the faster riders, Oh well it kept us all together, and within a minute or so, Norm called me again & we were off  to a good pace once more, just before Gloucester we hit a few drops of rain that fizzled out as quick as it came, that was a relief, the cops seem to be everywhere these day’s, cars coming in the opposite direction flashing their headlights to advise of highway patrol, hiding in the side roads, coming from 100 to 60k one could easy get caught, a nice ride from Gloucester across the mountain, we picked up a little bit of wind and down into Kramback Hotel for lunch….Hey what’s this more bloody cops….this female in tights was waiving her baton about & handing out bluey’s, What a greeting, Excellent Denise, well done.

2.20pm

After a couple of cold ones and a bit of tucker in the tummies it was time to hit the road for our last 40 min ride into Forster, sitting out on the balcony of the Kranback hotel, overlooking the mountains was so relaxing, & the beer was every bit as nice, unfortunately they were a bit slow on the serving lunch side of things, but they are new owners, a nice casual ride to the Forster turn off whilst we were waiting for oncoming traffic, Big Steve sneaked up beside us and pinched lizzy on the arm, she nearly had a fit, as that was the last thing you would think could happen to you on a bike, earlier on in the trip we went under a viaduct & Big Steve revered his exhaust, Elizabeth thought a freight train was going overhead, Steve rode in 2 position most of the way, going over the Forster bridge & into the motel we were greeted by the lady officer again whom was most friendly……….

We all chattered & socialized within our group some heading to the pub, others having a swim, munchies & chatting, a few more drinks, & off to the bowling club where we all had a scrumptious meal at Danny’s restaurant, because of the entertainment being cancelled some went to the RSL others back to the motel, but I am sure a great time was had by all……………..

Thank You to Norm Francis for his help on the cb radio, keeping us all together from the rear.

Thanks also to Phil & Archie for tailend Charlie in the car, & the brown eye Archie showed coming home, from the rear window of the car as they went past.

Special Thanks for Denise whom once again gave us some light hearted entertainment, her kind gifts for the bluey’s, she purchased herself, & the assistance in organizing Forster with me helping from the Forster end

YES THERE WILL BE A RETURN IN 2009, WITH SOME CHANGES

Bye for now.  REDBACK

Redback’s Annual Forster Run

Thanks to Redback (with help from ‘the law’) for organising  another annual run to Forster.

The weather held off on Saturday despite how it looks in the photos, but dumped on us on the way home on Sunday! C’est la vie, it was a great ride anyway! Book me in for next year! Shaz.

Kart Racing - Lemon Tree Passage 12 Oct 08

The first of the daylight saving rides and the weather was a bit damp.  Not raining but the thickest mist you have ever seen! Most people turned up soaking wet from the ride to Maccas.

As we left the sun started to come through the clouds making for a spectacular ride north using all the back roads to Morpeth for smoko.  After the calorie count up we left for Bobs Farm go-kart track, again using all the back roads, when we met Johnno and his mate Morty (well, he said he was? ). So the fun started and Johnno chose his prey one after another. He had the fastest kart, so he’d follow you for a lap or two just to make you a bit nervous before he gave you a nudge into the barriers.  There was quite a bit of carnage and a rather grumpy track assistant who was kept more than busy pulling us out of the tyre barriers.  (One kart needed a bit of welding after one of the spills.)

The memorable moment of the day was between Young Francis and Steve.  He was trying to muscle his way past Francis on a corner but he ended up that firmly jammed in the barrier that we could hardly get him back out!  A great laugh was had by all, followed with fish and chips for lunch on the waterfront at Lemon Tree Passage.

Thanks to everyone that came with us and made it a great day out.

Lake Liddell

With 26 people, 20 bikes and 1 quad we left Maccas for a pleasant ride north-west to Lake Liddell, between Singleton and Muswellbrook, with a brief stop for morning tea at Branxton.

The sun was shining and the temperature was rising as we left for a trip on some of the great back roads.  I’m not totally sure, but I think it was the same way that Redback took us to Tamworth on my first ride with Central Coast Riders back in Feb 05.  Thanks to Dave & Erica for taking the urn so we could have tea and coffee with lunch.  There’s plenty of space for camping around the lake, and would be a good venue for a camp-over sometime in the future.

As usual people started leaving in small groups for the journey home, but this time the Harley started.  It was a big silver BMW that didn’t want to play and this time it wasn’t Young George who seems to have taken a backward step and is now riding a Suzuki.  The ‘custom’ side stand switch extension made out of a piece of decking and duct tape ( a non-genuine BMW part) decided to give us some grief but after a lot of pushing, all was well and with everything working we headed for home.  Thanks to Alan for organising another good ride, and to everyone who came along making it another enjoyable day out.

What sort of a yobbo would ride around with a pair of some elses shorts tied to his bike??

Memorial Ride 2008

The annual memorial ride is one of our most important rides on the calendar where we have a few quiet thoughts for our fellow bikers who have ridden on.  It was really nice to turn up to Macca’s and see so many people there.  Some decided to go to with neighouring branches and 20 odd bikes and 2 tin tops came on the Central Coast Branch Ride.

What a great day, we made the trek to Kurri Kurri for morning tea. One had to leave (Jo..ahem…nno) for a booty call but the rest of us carried on to Tea Gardens.  We had a short and intimate service , it was really nice having our own service and even nicer to share it with close friends.  We then made our way to the pub for the usual yummy lunch ………….. and yes Sharon the oysters were good.  Icecreams were also eaten at a fast and furious pace by many.

The weather gods looked after us with only a spot of rain here and there.  All in all a good day, thanks to all those who made the trip enjoyable.  A special thanks to Aunty Erica & Uncle Dave for babysitting Boris.
