CENTRAL COAST RIDERS BRANCH http://www.ccrb.com.au ULYSSES CLUB - GROW OLD DISGRACEFULLY Thu, 12 Aug 2010 14:33:36 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.9.2 en hourly 1 Chichester Dam 8-8-2010 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1607 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1607#comments Sun, 08 Aug 2010 07:30:26 +0000 Nige http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1607 A small but very good looking group of riders led by Neil Olliver braved the beautiful conditions and headed off down the long and windy road to Chichester Dam.
The road was a little dirtier and windier in places than expected and a couple of riders went to get fuel and were never heard from again :) but eventually we reached our destination.
We snaffled a BBQ that was already running hot, loaded it up with enough firewood to fuel a power station and charcoaled our snags, slurped down our fizzy drinks and then relaxed to listen to Lucky (guest of Nige) regale the crowd with stories of his mighty ‘Busa.
A quick pack-up and ride down this funny hard, black stuff (asphalt I think it was called) and we were back at Dungog where we fuelled up ready for the ride home.
Some riders even managed to stay together as a group and have a coffee at Freeman’s Waterhole while another contrary couple sorta went their own navigationally challenged way home (Nige & Lucky).
Fantastic weather and a great destination, thanks Neil for your preparedness to lead and organise.
[Note to self & others: Just because Google shows the road as asphalt doesn't necessarily make it so :) ]

Bell Bird Ride Sun 25th July 2010 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1625 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1625#comments Mon, 26 Jul 2010 11:10:35 +0000 Cashaz http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1625 Well we had a change of ride due to Alan not feeling well. (This was from the Graveyard Ride that Alan will still do at a later date)
We had 20 bikes leave Macca`s at 9.15 headed to Yarramalong up to Kulnura for a [wee] stop. After a little rest we headed to Bellbird Pub via Wollombi for a great lunch had by all. Back on the road through Ellalong-Freemans and home.
Thanks to those who came on the ride & some of the new faces we met at the meeting

Big Steve’s Blessing of the Bikes July 2010 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1592 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1592#comments Sun, 11 Jul 2010 10:14:45 +0000 Cashaz http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1592 Another great ride with a lovely bunch of people was enjoyed today. We headed off from Hungry Jacks at Tuggerah (not Macca’s due to the construction work being done there) and down through the Kangy pass, back onto the freeway and up to Peats Ridge. We did a little detour due to roadworks and eventually came back down the mountain via Dog Trap Road.. Lovely countryside but some caution needed due to the green moss covering most of the road. Needless to say Big Steve kept a sensible pace and all made the trip to church without incident.

The Pastor made us all welcome and some people attended the service, (whilst a mottley group had their own little service down at the local) and then we continued the ride out via Terrigal, Pickets Valley, Kincumber and over the Rip Bridge and back to Woy Woy Bowling club where Redback and a few helpers including Phil and our New President and first Lady had roped off and saved us prime parking spots.

There were quite a few people that didn’t ride but joined us for lunch at the club, and I’m sure all had a good day. Thanks to Big Steve for once again taking us on a lovely day out.

cheers Shaz

2010 Treasurer’s BBQ Sunday 27th June http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1564 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1564#comments Sat, 03 Jul 2010 01:30:23 +0000 Cashaz http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1564 20 bikes, two trikes and two cars assembled for the ride on Sunday. We left Tuggerah Macca’s just after 10 am for a lovely ride through Kangy Angy (does anyone remember the old roadhouse?) and down through Ourimbah, up to the Ridgeway and down through Holgate Valley. I grew up in this area and have memories of riding my horse to the local bus stop and leaving it in a friends paddock for the day so I could go to school. We headed out through Matcham and then back onto the main roads through Wamberal to The Entrance. I must say cornermarking was working very well as we didn’t lose anyone. We stopped for a comfort break at the waterfront at The Entrance, (okay I needed to go…) and after a 15 minute break we continued on to the Park at Budgewoi where Richard and Bob had everything very much under control. Thanks to all who joined the ride today and those who joined us at the BBQ. Particular thanks to Richard, Bob and the army of helpers for a very pleasant social day.

cheers Shaz

Leaving Macca's Budgewoi Richard's friend returns. Bugger!!! Wasn't me.... ]]>

Out came the sun for a little while! We got to the Bowling club at lunch time, and it was a great roast dinner for $5.50! To finish off the day we went home over Stockton Bridge through Newcastle, Swansea, & on to Catho pub for a coke. Neil’s Singleton Ride Sun 23rd May 2010 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1540 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1540#comments Sun, 20 Jun 2010 10:01:16 +0000 Cashaz http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1540 Ride Report – Singleton 23rd May, 2010 – Neil Olliver Ride Leader.

The day started a little ‘grey’ and a gentle ‘drizzle’ but having sustained ourselves with tea, coffee and chocolate plus toast, and yes our leader Neil had a BMW K1100 –plus a gorgeous passenger, Michael new member a Buelle 1200 (does anyone else in the club own one of these lovely road eating beasts? Gary I think a Yamaha and Lois’s lovely Honda CBF1000 (now with heated hand grips). We headed out over the bridge at Wyong, 5 klms down the road we hit glorious sunshine which lasted until our return, 6+ hours later, when we again caught up with the coastal drizzle.

Our first stop was Freeman’s Waterhole where we collected Sharon/ Green Harley and Malcolm/FZX Yamaha 1300. Our next stop was 1 1/2 hours later at Broke during which time we explored the best our Country has to offer –

Magnificent vineyards with tall stemmed roses at the head of each row of vines, the best of Australian Country/homes/ Hotels, B & B’s, cottages, fields of green lawns/grass, Hay, Cow’s, Sheep, Horses, sparkling Dams, and Fertilized fields (don’t you love the smell of fertilizer in the morning!!!).

On our way to broke we turned left at Bellbird (where Gary called it a day and peeled off to Cessnock) and headed up to the top of the escarpment where the views did look spectacular – down to the valley where Cessnock is nestled and beyond beyond!!! and traversed some dirt road – everybody coped really well.

At Broke we had some great trip talk, bike talk and coffee before heading off to the Crighton Hotel at Singleton for a truly delicious lunch with great company.

As you would expect there were I think 2 other Ulysses Clubs imbibing and enjoying their day at this pub.

On the return run Neil decided to go further thru the vineyards to Lovedale with his passenger – Sharon, Michael, Malcolm and myself came back the shortest route.

Mileage: Approximately 300ks plus.

6 bikes, 6 members, 1 passenger.

A truly great ride, great pace and great company Thanks Neil.

Candidates for President AGM 2010 Part 1 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1523 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1523#comments Mon, 24 May 2010 11:34:50 +0000 Cashaz http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1523 This year we have two candidates for President of Ulysses Central Coast Riders Branch.

They are Stephen McKinnon and Bob Sharp. Please read through the letters they have submitted for your perusal.

Nomination for President – Bob Sharp – Resume

I joined the Ulysses after being told about the club by another member. I found it to be a club built on friendship and a common love of all that motorcycling entails.

It broadened my horizons with new places to visit and allowed me to experience the excitement of traveling in a large group of like minded bikers.

Not only did the attraction mainly rest with the bike side of things, I found the people amazing. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and happy to offer advice to a new

member.

More recently I have been involved in the running of the club. I was asked to join the Committee and take over the Gear shop. Both Maree and I for most of this year have been involved in the decision making and organizing. I have volunteered to lead various rides, cook BBQ’s and helped in fun raising activities to help our nominated charities.

I feel I have a good understanding now of what it takes to run this branch and I am eager to offer my services as President.

Thank You

Bob Sharp

My New Bike http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1506 http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1506#comments Thu, 13 May 2010 11:13:28 +0000 dustydan http://www.ccrb.com.au/?p=1506 Hey all. I have been running in my new KLR650 so haven’t been on any rides for a while.

I just noticed that Nige and Mohawk also have the same bike as me.

I’m loving it and having fun learning to ride the trails in the Watagans.

Here is a pic for you all to see.
